Double act, Mark and Heather, are a couple united by all things 1940s. They have been dancing and re-enacting for many years starting with a couple of singing and dancing troupes and later progressing to recreating various different wartime characters at many events. With their love of entertaining and slightly tongue in cheek manner, who better than the iconic pompous and self important Captain Mainwaring from the much loved Dads Army sitcom or Mrs Mopp the fag smoking char lady who always has something to say about the war effort! Having a large wardrobe of authentic and reproduction costumes they are well known and have made friends at events all over the country.

   

Al is a relative newcomer to re-enacting starting in 2016 going to a few events around the South East in what you would call fancy dress but quickly progressed to re-enacting in original and reproduction outfits. Running his website, 1940sukevents.com for 3 years and building an ARP post for his collection of ARP memorabilia, he met Mark and Heather and having become close friends, they decided to create their own group called; The Blackout Buddies. Al also portrays several Dads Army Characters Including; Mr Yeatman The Verger, Inspector Walter H Thompson, ARP warden Hodges and Home Guard Private. He also takes the Walmington on Sea HQ tent to events as it is easily portable and greatly adds to the experience!
